Marriage Week was started by Richard and Maria Kane, while Richard was national director of Christian charity Marriage Resource. Marriage Week is a primary preventative campaign which seeks to highlight the benefits of healthy marriage to society, media and governments, whilst seeking to educate and inform couples regarding the benefits of an ever improving relationship, through church based events, and media coverage.
If marriage is a skill then let's get upskilled! Marriage Week is now in it's twelfth year in the UK, it has attracted the support and attention of a host of political, religious and media figures, such as Tony & Cherie Blair, Archbishop Rowan Williams, Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Les Dennis, Amanda Holden, Steve Chalke and many others.
Marriage Week UK is a part of Futureway Trust which was founded by Richard Kane, which is also spearheading the development of Marriage Week in other nations. Others considering the project are; Norway, Sweden, Ireland, and Netherlands. Marriage Week in the Uk is now led by a collective group, known as the portcullis group which includes several organisations.
